Operations/Program Manager (7/1991 – 1/2011) Managed 3 departments, 35 people, hiring, training, disciplining, terminating; budgeting: revenue and expenses; facility: including landscaping, fencing, HVAC, janitorial, plumbing and building hardware; marketed 1/2 hour time periods to meet revenue budgets. Scouted locations planned, ordered scaffolding and bucket trucks, worked with writer and talent on preparation. File quarterly government reports by due dates - reports were a major part of the television station license renewal, and we successfully renewed the license through to 8 year cycles. Achievements: Generated and exceeded annual budget goals growing to over 1.4 million dollars at peak. Remained in the station's top 5 advertising categories from 1995 to present. Rewarded with year-end bonus from Executive Management for meeting or exceeding goals. Reduced overhead by combining two positions resulting in a savings of $180k annually. Saved the station 1.5 million dollars in equipment and commercial spot loss during a new roof installation and subsequent rainstorm. Implemented a quick-fix solution that allowed station to remain on the air throughout the storm and provide news coverage for viewers and major, high dollar equipment components were saved from water damage. Promoted to Operations Manager in 1991, which included Technical Department management. Launched a Monday through Friday, live, viewer call-in talk show in 2008, setting up a schedule of startup and ongoing expenses, ratings, revenue expectations, and timelines. Trained personnel on camera positioning and shot composition. Show launched successfully on date and time set, and is still on the air today. Ensure all personnel are trained adequately. Oversee Production Manager and positions generating revenue (Director, TD, Master Control, Audio, Camera Ops). Achievements: Reduce employee expense: As part of the company negotiating team, changed the IBEW and AFTA union agreements from an "automatic" annual increase to a "performance" based annual increase. This saved the company $50,000 annually going forward. Combined functions and shifts, allowing more flexible scheduling, stable shifts, and cross training of all employees for better backup depth. Employees/operators liked the more stable scheduling of their shifts and we successfully reduced turnover of key personnel in the parttime ranks. WOFL TELEVISION, INC., Orlando, Florida 5/1987 – 7/1989 Broadcast Station affiliated with FOX network for Central Florida. Production Manager Manage the Production Department of 15 employees, including operations management, performance reviews, staffing, budgeting, goal setting, and revenue generation. Oversee operating expenses, maintained all hiring metrics and competitive intelligence, and grew production revenue. Achievements: Grew revenue to $250k in first year by adding diverse staff, including a new Director that offered clients a wider range of formats, and by opening new key-accounts such as Boardwalk and Baseball, large Florida theme park. Significantly reduced operating expenses by changing hourly positions to part time status, saving well into the high five figures annually. Spearheaded the transition of the facility to a digital tape format, trained operators in use of new equipment, and added 6 new clients comprising $60k+ annual revenue.
