Fall 2008, Assignment 3, Due September 4, 2008, 80 points
This assignment is meant to gain familiarity with creating series of numbers and making
basic charts and graphs. Send the Excel worksheet back through blackboard. Label all
parts of the assignment so each part can be easily found.
1. Put your name, W number and favorite song at the top of Excel work sheet.
2. Use Excel to create a series of numbers starting at 1 and counting to 200, by 1’s.
Example (1, 2, 3, 4…..200).
3. Use Excel to create a series of numbers starting at 0 and counting to 201, by 3s’s.
Example (0, 3, 6, 9…..201).
4. Use the line chart to plot the following series of numbers:
1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 6, 5, 4, 4, 6, 8, 5, 3, 2, 1
5. Use the X/Y scatter chart to plot the following pairs of numbers.
1, 1
3, 2
5, 3
5.5, 5
6,6
10, 7
11, 6
11.5, 5
19, 4
20, 4
20.5, 6
20.75, 8
21, 5
30, 3
40, 2
43, 1
6. Make a plot of the equation Y = X*X*X.
a. Start the X values at –10, end them at 10
b. For each X, create a Y value such that Y = X*X*X.
c. Use the X/Y Scatter chart to graphically display the data.
7. Make a plot of the equation Y = X3 – (X2 + 7).
a. Start the X values at –10, end them at 10
b. Use the X/Y Scatter chart to graphically display the data.
8. Create a Kilograms to Pounds conversion table.
a. Start the table at 0 Kilograms and end it at 100 Kilograms.
b. Use the equation: Pounds = 1.1*(2*Kilograms)
