The Richard Hoeschen Award for supervisors of BScMed students; made possible through donations and support of the Manitoba Medical Services Foundation, friends and family of Richard Hoeschen, Manitoba Blue Cross and the St. Boniface Hospital Research Centre. One half of the value of the award is supported by the St. Boniface Research Centre. This award was created to support BScMed supervisors without other sources of funding (such as external grant support or access to funds that would offset the expenses related to the student project. This year we have chosen 3 supervisors to share in this award. Supervising BScMed student Trevor Aquin. Trevor's research project is 'The effect of performance status David Dawe from Internal Medicine on cancer outcomes for small cell lung cancer patients in Manitoba’. Afshin Raouf from the department of Cell Biology and Immunology Yoav Keynan from the department of Internal Medicine Supervising BScMed student Alexei Berdnikov. Alexei's research project is 'Examining the mechanisms through which adipose-derived stem cells enhance breast tissue proliferation and differentiation in reconstructive breast surgeries'. Supervising BScMed student Quinlan Richert whose project title is 'Systemic Inflammation before and after antiretroviral therapy initiation as a predictor of immune response among HIV infected individuals in Manitoba’.
