REPORTABLE VS. NON-REPORTABLE CONDITIONS FOR AIN, CIN, HSIL/HGSIL, VAIN, & VIN (Based on MCSP Cancer Program Manual, Effective for January 1, 2010 diagnoses to date) The following conditions are considered reportable and MUST be reported to the Michigan Cancer Surveillance Program regardless of facility type. NOTE: ICD-10-CM was scheduled to go into effect on October 1, 2014. In April 2014, the date was changed to October 1, 2015. Reportable Conditions ICD-10CM Code ICD-9CM Code D01.3 230.5 D06.9 233.1 D06.9 233.1 D07.2 233.31 D07.1 Examples 233.32 Primary Site AIN III (anal intraepithelial neoplasia – histologically confirmed) NOTE: “Severe dysplasia alone IS reportable.” A diagnosis of “High grade dysplasia” ONLY is not reportable. CIN III (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia histologically confirmed) with or without carcinoma in situ (CIS) NOTE: “Severe dysplasia” alone IS reportable. A diagnosis of “High grade dysplasia” only IS NOT reportable. HSIL/HGSIL (high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion - histologically confirmed) with or without carcinoma in situ (CIS); with or without CIN III; with or without severe dysplasia. NOTE: A diagnosis of “High grade dysplasia” only IS NOT reportable. VAIN III (vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia) with or without carcinoma in situ (CIS) NOTE: “Severe dysplasia” alone IS reportable. A diagnosis of “High grade dysplasia” only IS NOT reportable. VIN III (vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia histologically confirmed) with or without carcinoma in situ (CIS). Number of Reportable Conditions To determine the NUMBER of reportable conditions for AIN, CIN, HSIL/HGSIL, VAIN, and VIN, refer to the Multiple Primary and Histology Coding Rules manual. General Instructions Do not use a physician’s statement to decide whether the patient has a recurrence of a previous cancer or a new primary. Use the multiple primary rules as written unless a pathologist compares the present tumor to the “original” tumor and states that this tumor is a recurrence of cancer from the previous primary. Other Sites Multiple Primary Rules Other Sites Multiple Primary Rules – Rule M10: Tumors diagnosed More than one (1) year apart are multiple primaries. NON-REPORTABLE CONDITIONS FOR AIN, CIN, HSIL/HGSIL, VAIN, & VIN The following conditions are NOT reportable to the Michigan Cancer Surveillance Program: Non-Reportable Conditions ICD-10-CM ICD-9-CM Code Code Primary Site AIN I (anal intraepithelial neoplasia) K62.82 569.44 with or without mild dysplasia AIN II (anal intraepithelial neoplasia) K62.82 569.44 with or without moderate dysplasia CIN I (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia) N87.0 622.11 with or without mild dysplasia CIN II (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia) N87.1 622.12 with or without moderate dysplasia LSIL (low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion) N89.3 795.1 with or without mild dysplasia VAIN I (vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia) N89.3 623.0 with or without mild dysplasia VAIN II (vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia) N89.3 623.0 with or without moderate dysplasia VIN I (vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia) N90.0 624.01 with or without mild dysplasia VIN II (vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia) N90.1 624.02 with or without moderate dysplasia N42.3 602.3 PIN I (Prostatic Intraepithelial Neoplasia) N42.3 602.3 PIN II (Prostatic Intraepithelial Neoplasia) D07.5 233.4 PIN III (Prostatic Intraepithelial Neoplasia) For more information, refer to the MCSP Cancer Program Manual.
