MyMathLab Notes Chapter 2: MyMathLab allows students to report x-intercepts as a list of numbers with commas between. Ex. x-intercepts are 4, 6, 9 rather than (4,0), (6,0), (9,0). In class, and throughout the course, all intercepts are to be written as points with x- and ycoordinates. All x-intercepts will be expressed in the form (x, 0). All y-intercepts will be expressed in the form (0, y). Chapter 3: 3.4—Students are asked to use Descartes’s Rule of Signs. You do not have to use this to work these problems. Work them as we do in class, and then answer the questions about the number of positive and/or negative roots. 3.5—Use the method as demonstrated in class to graph the rational functions. Then, if any questions remain unanswered, refer to your text. 3.5—Points of discontinuity are not covered in the text but will be covered in class and will be tested. 3.5—In class, vertical and horizontal asymptotes will be expressed as x = # or y = # respectively Chapter 4: 4.1 & 4.2—An assignment for this lesson will be made in class 4.2 & 4.3—This assignment has 47 questions in it. Don’t be alarmed when you see this. 4.4—This assignment has 33 questions in it. See advice for 4.2 & 4.3 Chapter 5 5.1/5.2 Only use elimination no matter what they ask for.
