Laboratory testing has shown that, when cleaned regularly, these surfaces deliver continuous and ongoing antibacterial* action, effective in killing greater than 99.9 percent of bacteria* within two hours. The new toggle switch offers specifiers a durable and attractive design to help combat hospital acquired infections (HAIs). “Eaton has a longstanding commitment to health and safety, not only in the production and distribution of our products, but also in their applications. This expanded line of devices made with CuVerro antimicrobial copper surfaces upholds those values and is yet another way to provide healthcare customers with the very best options,” said Michele Salimbeni-Schnoll, marketing manager, Commercial and Residential, Eaton’s Cooper Wiring Devices business. “As HAIs continue to be a very real and growing concern in the healthcare industry, innovative solutions that can provide both form and function – specifically designed for clean environments – are critical.” In addition to new toggle switches, the Arrow Hart line of wiring devices with CuVerro touch surfaces includes single, 3-way and 4-way decorator switches, as well as specification-grade, standard size wallplates in multiple gangs and configurations. All products have been tested and are compliant to Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards. -more- Eaton/Page 2 *Laboratory testing shows that, when cleaned regularly, CuVerro® antimicrobial copper surfaces kill greater than 99.9% of the following bacteria within two hours of exposure: MRSA, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and E. coli O157:H7. CuVerro® antimicrobial copper surfaces are a supplement to and not a substitute for standard infection control practices and have been shown to reduce microbial contamination, but do not necessarily prevent cross contamination; users must continue to follow all current infection control practices, including those practices related to cleaning and disinfection of environmental surfaces.
