2016.17 Theatre I, Quarter 1 Big Ideas/Key Concepts: Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of theatre and acting. They will learn basic acting techniques such as trust/team building games, pantomime, improvisation, stage directions, and body movement. Standards Student Friendly “I Can” Statements 1.0 Script Writing TH.I.1.1.1 Compose, collaboratively, an original scene that incorporates dramatic structure. I can identify dramatic structure within a scene. I can create an outline for an original scene that identifies dramatic structure. I can write a scene and a short play incorporating dramatic structure. I can identify and use a voice appropriate to the purpose and audience. TH.I.1.3.1 Create an observation journal. I can demonstrate the importance of observation as a tool for script writing through an observation journal. 2.0 Character Acting Character Creation TH.I.2.1.1 Understand and apply the basic rules of improvisation.
