1.
In accordance with the Boston University Information Security Policy, and Conditions of Use and Policy on Computing Ethics*, I, the Enrollment and Student Affairs
network primary user, agree to safeguard any data to which I have access on the Enrollment and Student Affairs network and to ensure that they do not become
available to any person not specifically authorized by the Data Trustee** to have access to that data.
2.
In accordance with federal education records privacy requirements I agree to keep educational records accessed through the network confidential.
3.
I agree not to disclose or share my network account ID or password information to any person. I agree not to hardcode either my network account ID or password in
any application on the network.
4.
I agree not to execute any programs that have not been made specifically available to me by the Enrollment Network Administrator*** or to which I have not been
granted explicit written permission by the Enrollment Network Administrator.
5.
I agree not to alter in any way the system hardware, software, or network configuration without the explicit written permission of the Enrollment Network
Administrator.
6.
I agree to acknowledge all Enrollment and Student Affairs computers, printers, peripheral devices (mouse, keyboard, monitor, CD-ROM drive, etc.), and its network
resources as business tools, which means it is the property of Enrollment and Student Affairs. I further agree that these resources will be used for university
business-related purposes.****
7.
I agree not to install or copy any programs to or from the network or any workstations attached to the network without explicit written permission from the Enrollment
Network Administrator. This includes anything downloaded from on-line or Internet services (not just executable files). These services include, but are not limited to
browsers, browser plug-ins, viewers, bulletin boards, blogs, AOL, Netscape, MSN, Google, FTP, Gopher, World Wide Web, Napster, Kazaa, Instant Messaging (IM), and
SMTP/web mail. I also agree to acknowledge that the downloading of files will be treated as software acquisition.****
8.
I agree not to use peer to peer networking or file sharing capabilities (including but not limited to Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP). I further agree not
to utilize or invoke any remote control services on computers or other network resources without specific authorization from the Enrollment Network Administrator.
9.
I agree that any files stored locally, unless placed there by an Enrollment Network Administrator, are done so at my own risk. Said files would not be included in the
automated network backup procedures. I also understand that these files may be removed from local storage devices at any time by an Enrollment Network
Administrator.
10. I agree not to participate in unauthorized disclosure of any data or password or the unauthorized copying or execution of programs. I agree not to allow anyone to use
a workstation while it is logged into the Enrollment and Student Affairs network under my USERID except when explicitly requested by the Enrollment Network
Administrator.
11. I agree not to display, archive, store, edit, record or distribute any kind of sexually explicit image or document on any Enrollment and Student Affairs computer or
network resource. I acknowledge this is a violation of Boston University’s policy on sexual harassment as well as professional standards of conduct. I also agree that
the Enrollment Network Administrator reserves the right to inspect any and all files stored on a computer’s local hard drive or shared network resource in order to
assure compliance with policy.*****
12. I understand that unauthorized use of another's account, the unauthorized disclosure of data, password, the provision of false or misleading information, or the
unauthorized copying or execution of programs may be regarded as a criminal act which will be treated accordingly by the University, and which may lead to the
imposition of internal University penalties, including the possibility of dismissal (employment or academic). I further understand that the above-described activities
may be reported by University officials to appropriate state and local authorities.
