Introduction to Remote Access • Routing and Remote Access Services (RRAS) – Enable routing and remote access through two means: virtual private networking and dial-up networking • Virtual private network (VPN) – Like a tunnel through a larger network that is restricted to designated member clients only • Dial-up networking – Means using a telecommunications line and a modem (or other telephony Implementing a Virtual Private Network • A VPN uses LAN protocols as well as tunneling protocols – To encapsulate the data as it is sent across a public network such as the Internet • Benefit of using
