What is IP Telephony?
 Translates voice conversations into data packets and transports
over data network (i.e. NUSNET) using Internet Protocol (IP) – i.e.
VoIP. IP Telephony is VOIP in the Enterprise (NUS).

 New prefix “6516” allocated
 All extensions preserved
 Seamless migration to new prefix
 “6516” and “6874” concurrently available for 10
months (Sept 2005 to June 2006)
 Called Number Announcement for “6874” in May &
June 2006
 Four-digit dialing across extensions with PhoneNet
and IP Phones
 Fax, direct lines & non “6874” phones not upgraded
 Availability of analogue lines for backup
