IMPROVING HEALTH CARE ACCESS IN THE RURAL COMMUNITIES WITH MODERN TECHNOLOGY
“TELEMEDICINE/TELEHEALTH AND MOIBLE MEDICAL CENTER PARADIGM”
CGI Communications Services,
Inc.
2
Executive Summary
Technological innovations lead to applications
development for enhancement of human life and its
value, which largely remained limited to certain
areas of the world creating Digital Divide.
Rapid development of telecommunication
technology has given the opportunity for access to
development system, irrespective of geographic
distance, again such remained confined to urban
population of many nations, creating Digital Access
Divide (DãD).
The Rural Organ for Access to Development (The
ROAD Project) is an initiative, to allow access to
development tools for rural population in less
developed areas of developing nations.

Executive Summary
- Continued
The first program under the ROAD project is an
Integrated Mobile Medical & Telemedicine/Telehealth
Research Centers, a healthcare delivery and
management vehicle for the developing countries.
The Mobile Medical Center which is built on a large van
or trailer, epitomizes the Millennium initiative to bring
healthcare technology closer to the beneficiaries in the
rural population. The aim has been to bring
advancements in modern medical sciences at the
doorstep of the common man, who otherwise would
have been neglected of its benefits.
CGI Communications Services,
Inc.
21
Executive Summary
(continued)
• These private sector programs will empower
development schemes of government and nongovernment machineries, to create a viable, visible and
sustainable access mechanism, for continued
development of rural population, as newer technologies
evolve.
• This health care model will make it possible to provide
state of the art comprehensive health care to the needy
and poor people at their doorstep in remote areas of
Latin American Countries practically at no cost to the
recipients, since relatives abroad will underwrite the cost
of services for the relatives at home.
