Preoperative assessment of OSA: Why? “Failure to recognize (or diagnose) OSA preoperatively is one of the major causes of perioperative complications.” Joshi.2007 Primary care doctors, sleep doctors, surgeons, and anesthesiologists must have ready access to all OSA-related information in OSA patients. The best way to ensure this continuity of care is to issue medical alert bracelets to patients who have severe OSA. Treat recurrent hypoxemia with CPAP & oxygen.
