Communicate or Die
Championship Teams through Speaking & Listening
A 2-day workshop building teams and communication
for extraordinary results
1
Why a “Communicate or Die” workshop?
• If 1,000 people work for a company, each earns $30/hour and each
spends 1 hour/day gossiping at the water cooler, the company
loses $62 million a year.
• From post-merger pains to divorces, from employee burnout to
brain-drain, from infighting to lawsuits, bad communication costs
millions – and great communication gets great results.
• But few managers ever learn to
communicate, let alone listen,
effectively.
• Speaking and listening are hard to
quantify, but investing in your
people’s communication skill-set
might be the most cost-effective
investment you can make.
2
What does “Communicate or Die” do?
• It trains people to be leaders through communication –
master communicators who inspire others into action.
• It allows participants to avoid the 4 Deadly Sins of
Speaking, minimize clutter in their language and
transform bad into great communication.
• It enables participants to climb the
Matterhorn of Masterful Listening™.
• It builds teams that communicate
openly and achieve desired results
effectively through
communication.
3

4
What makes “Communicate or Die” different?
• The workshop is not a mere event, but a process:
– We interview key participants to customize workshops in partnership
with team leaders
– We care about “Monday morning”: can participants apply and sustain
their new competencies afterwards?
– We hold a follow-up call to ensure the new skills hold
• The workshop goes beyond theory: participants
design, declare and launch breakthrough
initiatives that enable them to learn leadership
and coaching in the action.
• The workshop uses Thomas D. Zweifel’s pathbreaking book Communicate or Die: Getting
Results Through Speaking and Listening
(SelectBooks 2003, Global Leader Series) as a
reference in the whole process.
5
Who is “Communicate or Die” for?
• Senior executives in the private sector, nonprofits and
government
• Functional departments or corporate divisions
performing below expectations
• Project teams, sales teams, or cross-functional teams
that are not working well together
• Boards of directors who believe they
or their organization needs better
communication
• Small and medium enterprises that
need to build structures of
communication and empowerment
6
Who are the instructors?
• Our certified instructors are seasoned coaches with a
solid track-record of enhancing clients’ performance
and catalyzing uncommon results.
• They are leaders in their field who have demonstrated
a firm grasp of both teaching and applying in action the
framework underlying our leadership and
communication methodology.
• They are committed to being unattached
to approaches that prove unproductive.
They never cease learning.
• They are coached by our CEO Dr. Thomas
D. Zweifel, Columbia leadership
professor and author.
7
What results have participants caused out
of our workshops?
• The retail team of a large multinational energy
company expanded sales by 7% while the
industry contracted –1%.
• One participant, in a pilot project to bring to
market and sell new products that did not exist
before, achieved his goal of €5 million.
• The fundraising/sales team of a
large nonprofit expanded their
results by 1,000% in the 3 months
following the workshop.
8
What have participants said about
our workshops?
• “Swiss Consulting Group is far more effective and is of far greater
value for money... Many one day or two day courses fire you up
but do not put in place any back up system to let you channel your
new enthusiasm once you are back in the office. Swiss Consulting
Group has a very different approach which is far more inspiring
and supports you long term.” (Director of Development of a
public-service media company)
• “You were standing in our success as though it were your own. It is
safe to say that without your input we would not be facing what
we all now see as an extraordinarily bright future.” (A mediumsized Australian software development company)
• “The essence of coaching is awareness of myself. I broke through
the basic rules that I had imposed on myself.” (President and
Managing Director of a second-tier multinational energy company)
• "We need more people like you." (Principal Advisor and Team
9
Leader on HIV/AIDS UNDP)
