Most important form of communication.. Includes not only speech and hearing but also eye contact and gaze, gestures, postures and body language to. Transfer effects and personal space People are used to the social norms They are adoptable to them Reluctant to used new technology Placement of hardware and communication Eye contact and gaze It is used extensively. Our eyes tell us many things which our colleague does not. Facial expression tell a lot about our listeners in conversation between human. Sporadic eye contact ( when both speaker and listener are looking at each other). We can easily imagine either people are shifty or hiding something. Facial expression tell us story about our colleague that either she is responding or not. Eye gaze In the communication gaze means having an eye contact with the listener. Eye gaze system allow you to control the system simply looking at it. Gesture and body language “We use our hands to indicate the item of interest” The conversation is always full of expressions. e.g. “let’s move this one there” “this” and “there” is indicated trough gestures or body language. This is called direct referencing. Body language In HCI body language means existence of the equipment being used in the conversation or meeting room. A very large monitor or screen, or very small both can be irritating to the other persons. Spoken language interface In spoken language interface we are going to design an interface which receives voice based commands. Is very easy to use than GUI (using hands) What will happen if ten people using their systems in same room? Thanks
