Who are we? What do we do? Contacting Us South West London Health Protection Unit (SWLHPU) is part of the Health Protection Agency. SWL HPU deals with: The SWL HPU On-call team can be contacted during office hours for the following: SWLHPU covers a population of 1.3 million, and works with 6 Local Authorities 5 Primary Care Trusts 4 Acute Hospital Trusts The Team consists of: Consultants in Communicable Disease Control Health Protection Nurses Health Protection Specialists Information team Administration team Communicable Disease control eg Advice for Meningococcal disease, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis. Infection Control eg Advice for Nursing, Care and Residential homes. Nurseries, schools, colleges and universities Non-infectious environmental hazards eg Acute Chemical incidents, chronic exposures, deliberate release Health protection aspects of emergency planning eg Flu Pandemic Emergency Planning Our Office Hours Office Hours: Monday to Friday: 09:00 to 17:00 Out of Hours: (for emergencies/professionals only) Monday to Friday: 17:00 to 09:00 Saturday & Sunday: 24 hours Advice eg Daytime On call and Out of hours (emergency/professionals only) Information eg Fact sheets and Guidelines Support eg Incidents and Outbreaks Training eg Infection control training for Nursing, Care, and Residential homes.
