FIRST HEMISPHERIC CONFERENCE ON PORT ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION • The United States is committed to protecting the oceans and to working with our international partners in the Western Hemisphere to promote all the basic elements of “environmental ports” around the globe. • The United States joins the other OAS Member States and thanks the Government of Panama, the OAS, and the Secretariat of the InterAmerican Committee on Ports (CIP) for their hard work in organizing this First Hemispheric Conference on Environmental Port Protection. • The U.S. delegation wants to ensure that the OAS Member States consider protecting human health as a significant component in the overall management of port activities.
