Class:8E
Definition
The Circulatory System…
-transports food
-transports oxygen
-includes:
-blood
-blood vessels
-heart
Parts and Functions…
•Parts
•Function
•Heart
•To pump blood all over
•the body
•Blood
•To transport oxygen to the
cells and get rid of carbon
dioxide
•They carry blood to the
heart, back and all the way
around the body
•Blood vessels
What is a Healthy System?
• The heart supplies food and oxygen
to keep the cells active.
• The blood takes access wastes to
the “Excretory System.”
• The “Excretory System” gets rid of
the wastes through its process.
How Do We Maintain a Healthy
System?
We maintain a healthy system by…
• Eating healthy foods such as fruits
and vegetables, grain, and dairy
products.
• Exercising a little bit each day
How Does The Blood Flow
Through The System?
Red blood cells flow from the heart,
through the arteries, that go all around
the body, and then back to the heart,
then the blood pumps and repeats the
process. The transfer of oxygen and
carbon dioxide occurs in the red blood
cells.
Disorders of The Circulatory
System
These are two major disorders of
the Circulatory System are:
 Smoking is a major threat to the
heart, veins and arteries.
 High blood pressure takes away
people from eating certain things.
