ULTRASOUND IMAGES
•
Ultrasonic waves can be used to see images of objects inside the body.
•
In order for ultrasonic waves to “see” an object inside the body, the
wavelength of the waves used must be about the same size as the
object or smaller.
•
A typical frequency used in an ultrasonic device is about 10 MHz.
•
Physicians often use ultrasonic waves to observe fetuses.
•
These reflected sound waves are converted to an electrical signal,
forms an image on a fluorescent screen.
•
These images help doctors catch abnormalities that a child may have in
the fetus.
SENSORINERUAL HEARING LOSS
•
THIS OCCURS WHEN THE INNER EAR STARTS TO ACT
UP.
•
MORE THAN 90% OF HEARING AID WEARERS HAVE
SENSORINERUAL HEARING LOSS.
•
THE CAUSES OF SENSORINERUAL ARE: CHANGING OF
AGE, NOISE EXPOSURE, BLEEDING INSIDE THE EAR,
VARIOUS DISEASES (MENINGITIS, DIABETES,
CHICKEN POX) ETC.
•
SENSORINERUAL HEARING LOSS IS PERMANENT AND
THE ONLY CHOICE IS GETTING A HEARING AID.
CONDUCTIVE HEARING LOSS
• It occurs when sounds does not going through
the ear canal, which causes you not to hear as
loudly as before.
• Conductive hearing loss is caused by ear wax,
fluid in the middle ear, middle ear infections,
and deformations.
• The person with this condition may talk softly
because they hear themselves loudly. The
person might also have to stop chewing to
hear.
• The may also be permanent if it was caused by
a disease otherwise medical treatment can be
provided.
WHAT CAUSED BEETHOVEN’S
DEATH?
• THE CAUSE Of BEETHOVEN’S DEATH OCCUrrED frOm
Ostosclerosis.
•
Ostoslerosis is a disease, which an abnormal growth of
the bone appears in the inner ear.
• In result, the bones blocks the sound and can not be
passed to the inner ear.
• However, this relates to the Conductive Hearing Loss.
• The bigger the bone grows the larger amount of

PARTS OF THE EAR
*However the three main parts of
the ear are The Inner, Middle, and
Outer Ear*
• The inner ear is the hardest
bone of the ear.
• It transfers the sound
impulses from the outer ear
into electrical impulses to the
brain.
• The cochlea is the main part
of the inner ear it converts
sound waves to neural signals.
• It gathers sound energy
and focus it towards the
ear drum.
• It is covered with skin via
cartilage.
• This is the part of the ear
where people get pierced
to wear earrings.
• It also collects dirt to
keep the ear canal clean.
•
Its main function is to
transfer acoustic
energy from compression
waves in air to fluidmembrane waves within
the cochlea.
Interesting facts!!
• 37% of children with minimal hearing loss fail
atleast one grade.
