Propaganda: definition
 the spreading of ideas, information, or
rumor for the purpose of helping or
injuring an institution, a cause, or a
person.

False Cause and Effect
 Using the idea that if one thing happens,
another certainly will.

preventative medicines (vitamins, suntan lotion)
Cardstacking
 Only tells the positive about something.
 “McDonald’s new all-white-meat
nuggets…” – they don’t tell you that the
nuggets are still high in calories, fat, and
cholesterol.
Public Good
 Gives the audience the idea that
something is “good for everyone”
Appeals to the Senses
 Use of high tech images and sounds to
appeal to the senses.
 “Herbal Essences” shampoo
 “Cottonelle” toilet paper
