Major Instructional Goals
AP WORLD HISTORY
Course Description
The AP World History course requires students to engage with the
dynamics of continuity and changes across the historical periods which are
included in the course. Students will be taught to analyze the processes and
causes involved in these continuities and changes.
Rationale
The purpose of the AP World History course is to provide students
with an overview of the major world events and personalities that have
helped shape modern world history. The course will provide students with a
global and multicultural perspective and students will be provided the
opportunity to develop analytical and critical thinking skills.

Goal 1. The student will demonstrate understanding of the interaction
between humans and the environment

c. Distinguish between fact and opinion and analyze sources to
recognize bias and points of view
d. Interpret maps, statistics, charts, diagrams, graphs, timelines, pictures,
political cartoons, audiovisual materials, continua, written resources,
art and artifacts
e. Create maps, charts, diagrams, graphs, timelines and political cartoons
to assist in analyzing and visualizing concepts in social studies
