Mercury Mercury is hard to study because it’s so close to the sun. Of all the planets, it is the second smallest. Mercury’s night temperature is the coldest in our Solar System, and it’s orbit is the fastest since it is the innermost planet. Venus Venus is the hottest planet in our Solar System. Venus’s surface temperature is 484 degrees Celsius. People could not live on Venus because it is so hot. This hot surface temperature, causes rain to evaporate before it hits the ground. Earth Some people think Earth is very interesting because it is the planet with the most water making it possible for people, animals, and many other types of living things to survive. Mars Planet Mars is known as the red planet because of the amount of iron oxide on the planet. Mars can be easily seen from Earth with out a telescope. Extreme radiation makes it difficult for things to live. Jupiter Jupiter has a big red spot on it that is a storm that is over 300 years old. Jupiter has a huge magnetic field that is stronger than Earth’s. Jupiter is the fourth brightest planet in our Solar System. It is the fifth planet from our sun. Saturn Saturn is the second most massive planet in our Solar System. It is a bigger gas giant than Jupiter. Saturn’s temperature is 288 degrees ferenhight. It has 60 moon’s surrounding it. Uranus Uranus has 13 rings and 27 moons around it. Uranus was the first planet seen with a telescope in 1781. It is the seventh planet from our sun and takes 84 years to complete one orbit. Neptune Neptune is the eighth planet from our sun. Its temperature is -353 F. Neptune has nine rings surrounding it. Neptune has thirteen moon’s around it. Human beings could not survive on Neptune because it’s too cold!
