Distribution of gas saturation. Design of optimum wells and well patterns based on simulation. Managing reservoir fluids and gas quality by using tools capable of simulating fluid flows in the reservoir, possibly also capable of simulating mixing of different gases. Rock mechanics – stress and strain simulation in rock caverns. RWE Transgas Net Madrid, 26-28 February 2006 9 Technology improvements Large well bore drilling and completion: completion systems with large inner bore diameters to allow high withdrawal rates due to reduced friction losses in the tubing. Stimulation and hydraulic fracturing of wells. Highly deviated wells, allowing clustering of wellheads. Horizontal wells, allowing improved reservoir drainage and flow rates. Expanding existing UGS by increasing withdrawal rates, adding wells, adding facilities, increasing reservoir pressure, and decreasing existing flow limitations.
