The aim of the course is providing emerging information and communication
technologies (EICT) basic knowledge (including EICT conception, principles,
models, methodologies and research results) and developing practical skills in
assessing the EICT relevance and perspectivity in organizations under
constantly renewable modern ICT conditions.
1st lecture > intro to the Emerging ICT unit
Tasks, results to be achieved
Initial survey
 Settling on the web
 EICT actualities (two)
 Colloquiums (online tests; two)
 Project, i.e., selected EICT analysis & demo
+activity

1st lecture > intro to the Emerging ICT unit
Study process and evaluation
●
●
●
cumulative score principle
colloquiums (march, may)
presentation of actualities (march,april,may)
the assessment takes into account the ability to give meaning, optimize, present and convincingly
defend the results and ability to use EICT for professional purposes.
accumulated points formula:
cumulative score = 0.5*knowledge + 0.5*skills
(knowledge - colloquiums results mean;
skills - mean of published online & defended results).
final evaluation (exam) = 0.6*cumulative + 0.4*final.test
1st lecture > intro to the Emerging ICT unit
EICT actuality > e.g. horison2020
1st lecture > intro to the Emerging ICT unit
EICT analysis tools, e.g.,


EICT hype cycle
Gartner research
1st lecture > intro to the Emerging ICT unit
ICT are tightly concerned with society
●
ICT regularities, e.g.,
o Moore’s law

o artificial intelligence test [Turing test]

o Could AI be dangerous for us? [S.Hawking, E.Musk, B.Gates]

●
There are a lot of actual questions about EICT
o EICT evolution, adoption? EICT life cycle and hype?
o Business IT? When to start using new ICT in business? etc.

What are models?
Etc.

Adoption of innovations
is extremely fast?
Delayed?
