Why do so many Electronics Programs close due to low enrollments? If Math and Science were electives, would they ALSO have low enrollments? Of Course they would! Core Electronics Classes (DC, AC, Analog, Digital) are advanced math and science intensive. DC and AC are actual last chapters inside Physics Textbooks. Yet they are Introductory chapters inside Electronics Textbooks. What to do? Upgrade Electronics Programs Meaningful and… Relevant and… Exciting and… Realistic and… Rewarding and… In touch with Current products. Train them for Careers not even invented yet! Overview of: Parkside High School - CTE Electronics Technology Instructor: David Miles [email protected] Salisbury, Maryland Could this possibly be a MODEL program for High School Electronics? We have a few systems such as robotics, microcontrollers, communications, fiber, soldering, solidworks, Labview, and a couple certifications. But due to funding limits, we’ll slowly be adding other systems within the coming years (hopefully). It may take years to complete barring a miracle! But Hopefully One Day!!! This could help Recruitment. Why?? Because students would learn how to setup test fixtures, measure, calibrate, and diagnose with a more meaningful electronic systems. Unfortunately many don’t. Why? Many capable students are still pushed away from CTE by Guidance Counselors, scheduling, and/or parents. University Scholarships are usually awarded towards academia rather than CTE. Community College Scholarships are usually awarded towards academia rather than CTE. Therefore – Lets push for SOLID pathways between High School CTE Electronics, Community Colleges, and Universities via scholarships awards. (One Option)
