Punctuation Period Use me at the end of a declarative or imperative (“telling”) sentence. Grammar Noun Verb Adjective I am an action or a state of being. I am a person, place, thing, or idea. The frog is green. She skis down the hill. Adverb Pronoun I describe or modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. I usually end in -ly. I am used to replace a noun. I describe or modify a noun or pronoun. The music is beautiful. Preposition I introduce a phrase. I can complete “The rabbit ran ___ the log.” The movie ended quickly. He is a good magician. She travels around the world. Conjunction Article Interjection I connect words, phrases, clauses, or sentences (and, but, or). Should I turn right or left? I am found before a noun. I am “a”, “an”, and “the”. The quarterback scored. I am used as an exclamation, and I show emotion. Ouch! That hurt.
