L/O: To evaluate whether the
Ethical dimension the most
important one?
What would you do?
You have been brought up not to steal,
however you have walked into your tutor
room and found a box of Roses on their
desk. Two of your friends are
chewing on sweets that they
have taken from the box.
What would you do?
You are walking home from school and find
a wallet. There is £30 cash inside with no
ID for the owner.
What would you do?
There is a party at your friends house, they
told you that it would be a movie night.
However, you turn up and there is a big
group who are all drinking, they are
pressurising you into drinking with them.
What would you do?
You have a maths test on Thursday and
your parents have said that you cannot go
away with your friends this weekend if you
do not pass. You arrive for maths clinic on
Wednesday, your teacher is on bus duty
and so will be late, the test is on her desk.
What would you do?

What is Karma?
Buddhist’s also believe in Karma – Their
actions have consequences.
Buddhists follow the teachings of the
Buddha.
He stated that every Buddhist must follow
the teachings of the Eightfold path
The Five Precepts
To refrain from injuring living things
To refrain from taking what is not given
To refrain from clouding the mind with drugs
or alcohol
To refrain from misusing the senses
To refrain from false or malicious speech

Smart stated that a
tradition must have an
ethical dimension.
 This will be important so
people understand what the
religion stands for.
 The laws will support the
message of the religion. For
example, Christians believe
in Love Thy Neighbour; and
Agape Love is at the core of
the Christian faith.
Should religions begin
