11-18-13 • Turn in Do Nows • Ch. 8 Lab: EQ & Volcano Plotting • Finish Lab • Project 1 Using a Venn diagram, compare and contrast composite and cinder cone volcanoes. 11-18-13 I can explain the relationship between plate boundaries and earthquakes and volcanoes. Plot volcanoes using red triangles. Plot earthquakes using orange, yellow, and black dots. Draw in, color, and label (names) the Earth’s tectonic plates on your map using pages 211 or 35B and R62 as a guide. Draw arrows on each plate showing the type of plate boundary (divergent, convergent, transform). Answer the 3 map conclusion questions in complete sentences (IQIA). 11-19-13 • Turn in Ch. 8 Lab • Presentations • Study for Test • Ch. 8 Review What was your favorite part of the movie review unit project? 11-19-13 I can evaluate the scientific accuracy of an earthquake or volcano movie. 11-20-13 • Presentations • Study for Test • Ch. 8 Review What was your favorite unit project presentation from yesterday’s class? Explain why. 11-20-13 I can evaluate the scientific accuracy of an earthquake or volcano movie. 11-21-13 • Ch. 8 Review • Study for Test What type of volcano is represented in the picture below? How do you know? 11-21-13 I can explain how mountains and volcanoes form as tectonic plates move. 11-22-13 • Unit Review What was your favorite lab or activity in our study of the Geosphere? Explain why. • Study for Test • Mineral Identification • Rock Identification • Soil Horizons Poster • Stream Table Lab • Convection Currents Lab • EQ-safe Structures Lab • EQ & Volcano Plotting 11-22-13 I can explain important concepts about Earth’s geosphere. • 2 teams (each side of the room) • Each pair can only answer one time per question. • Missing a question does not result in negative points – except for Final Jeopardy. • Team that answers a question correctly has control of the board. • Negative points are earned by excessive celebration and by team noise. • Answers must be phrased in the form of a question or else it will be considered incorrect. • 1st pair to raise their sign has 5 seconds to answer the question. • If the question is missed, the other pair gets the chance to answer (5 seconds). • If both pairs miss the question, it is turned over to the team round for half the points (starting team will alternate each time). • Teams submit their wagers on a post-it note before seeing the question (can only wager as much as was earned in the Jeopardy round). • Teams will have 60 seconds to answer the question on a 2nd post-it note. • The team with the highest total points is the winning team.
