Pool Hours:
January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.
This
provides the opportunity to increase awareness about how
women can protect themselves from cervical cancer and
HPV( human papillomavirus). HPV is regarded as a
common infection that spreads through sexual activity and
is also a large factor in the cause of cervical cancer.
There are about 79 million Americans that currently know
they have HPV, the good news is there is now a vaccine
that can prevent HPV and cervical cancer can often be
prevented with routine screening tests and follow-up care.
Cervical cancer screening conducted by a doctor or clinic
is recommended for women between the ages of 21-65.
The HPV vaccination is recommended to be done for boys
and girls between the ages of 11 and 12.
Raising awareness may not only save your life but may
also save the lives of those around you.
