want to work on it and use it
Who uses it?
Everyone (Approx. 2/3 web servers use Apache)
Why use it?
Reliable, dynamic, free
Well-known examples: Linux, Firefox, OpenOffice
Lesser-known Open-source examples: Cola, Beer, Medicine

Open source is an important flattener because it makes
available for free many tools, from software to encyclopedias,
that millions of people around the world would have had to
buy in order to use
