Annotating Gene Products to GO terms in MGI MGI's GO project provides functional annotations for mouse gene products using the Gene Ontology GO annotations do not put the data from experiments in detailed context Our Solution- add supplemental data to annotations from other ontologies We created a standardized notes field to capture extra information about experiments Notes can give us a information about individual annotations Notes can give us a information about individual annotations Notes can give us a information about experimental conditions Notes can tell us information about experiments using mouse genes in model systems Conclusion MGI uses external ontologies to enhance GO annotations by creating notes that give more contextual detail than is given by using a GO term alone.
