SOP-BCR6.10 1.0 Guidelines for the Use of Taxotere in Mice (per ULAM) Author: S. Clouthier Rev: Issued: 07/02/09 0 Revised: 07/02/09 Approved: M. Wicha Purpose The purpose of SOP 6.10 is to provide information on proper procedure for rodents administered Chemotherapeutic agents. 2.0 Scope SOP 6.10 is intended to cover all resources, personnel and equipment in the BCR laboratory. 3.0 Materials No. 1.0 Name Taxotere Description Chemotherapy Agent 4.0 Procedure 4.1 Any mouse cage that contains animals receiving Taxotere or other chemotherapy agent should be clearly identified. A green dissolvable sticker should be applied to the outside of the cage and it should indicate the drug and date that chemotherapy administration begins. 4.2 Three days after the last dose of chemotherapy (if the mice will receive no further chemotherapy treatments) the mice should be moved to a clean cage without a green label. 4.3 When a green labeled cage is emptied of mice, place all caging (including bedding) into a plastic bag on the floor inside the animal cubicle. ULAM staff will discard the bedding and sterilize the caging in a mode compliant with OSEH Haz Mat procedures. These carcasses will require biohazard containment.
