Description
Chemotherapy Agent
4.0 Procedure
4.1 Any mouse cage that contains animals receiving Taxotere or other chemotherapy agent
should be clearly identified. A green dissolvable sticker should be applied to the outside of
the cage and it should indicate the drug and date that chemotherapy administration begins.
4.2 Three days after the last dose of chemotherapy (if the mice will receive no further
chemotherapy treatments) the mice should be moved to a clean cage without a green label.
4.3 When a green labeled cage is emptied of mice, place all caging (including bedding) into a
plastic bag on the floor inside the animal cubicle. ULAM staff will discard the bedding and
sterilize the caging in a mode compliant with OSEH Haz Mat procedures.
 Notify Chris Binkley: Animal Care Supervisor, [email protected] 6-3946 of
any carcasses that are generated within three days of Taxotere administration.
These carcasses will require biohazard containment. Mice which survive beyond
three days administration will have metabolized the drug such that they can be
disposed of according to standard mouse disposal procedures.
