Digital Camera Integration Presented by: Anna Vigil Electronics Engineering Technology Colorado State University-Pueblo Radio Shack: FLATFOTO Specifications Camera: 16MB internal memory 3.0 Megapixel 1.5” color TFT LCD screen Computer requirement: 200MHz Pentium Processor (or faster) 200MB hard disk space System Modification Step 1: Remove 5 screws to take off front cover 5 1 2 4 3 System Modification Step 2: Pull down on the black lever to release the ribbon Ribbon Black Lever System Modification Step 3: Remove the 3 screws and take of the top circuit board leaving the bottom board attached. 1 2 3 System Modification Step 4: Identify where the trigger is and pull bottom board out. Use a multimeter to show where the continuity is when the button is pressed. You will hear a beep when there is continuity. System Modification Step 5: Identify the power button and perform the same continuity test when the button is pressed. System Modification Step 6: Solder wires to the contacts with continuity for the power and trigger button. Two wires to each button. Caution: Do Not strip the other end of the wire yet to avoid accidental contacts. Power Trigger System Modification Step 7: Remove the power and trigger buttons from the camera in order to feed the wires through. System Modification : Reassembly All the modifications to the camera are done. Now it’s time to reassemble. Step 8: Place the bottom circuit board back on feeding the wires from the power button through the hole. Step 9: Place the other circuit board on top making sure to line up the holes for the three screws. Step 10: Connect the ribbon and lock it with the black lever. Step 11: Place the front cover on making sure to feed the trigger wires through the top hole. Place all screws back in. Camera Integration DC voltage cannot be put to the camera directly so relays must be used. Connect your power and trigger wires to the C and NO terminals on the relay. If a PIC microcontroller is going to be used to drive the relays, they do not put out enough current to drive the relay, therefore, a transistor buffer must be used. Make sure to put a diode between the coil and the transistor circuit to protect the coil. Figure on the next slide Camera Relay Circuit Relay Relay
