The Lifecycle of a Butterfly Hi! I’m Bonnie the Butterfly. I would like to tell you all about how I grew into a beautiful butterfly. I haven’t always looked like this. Let’s look at some of my baby pictures to see how I have grown! My first baby picture! Look at me! I’m in that little green egg. Aren’t I cute! All butterflies start out as eggs. My first steps Oh look! It’s me in my larva stage! Well, you probably would have called me a caterpillar, but I think larva sounds better. I used to eat green leaves all the time. Green leaves are the best! They help all little caterpillars grow big and strong. A really BIG change Oh wow! I’m in my chrysalis…well, you might call it a cocoon. I stayed in there for what seemed like forever! Well, it was more like a few weeks, but I sure was bored. A hard day’s work It seemed like it took forever to get out of my chrysalis. I still could not fly for while. My wings were wet and I was very tired. Here I Am! When my wings were finally dry and I rested for a bit, I realized I was hungry. I tested out my brand new beautiful wings to get a bite to eat. Now that I am a butterfly, I don’t need to eat green leaves any more. Now I eat nectar from the blossoms of beautiful flowers. Can you see me sticking out my long tongue to drink nectar? Thank you for letting me share my story today! I hope you enjoyed it and learned a little bit about me and my other butterfly friends.
