The Pine Imperial moth (Eacles imperialis pini) is one of several Saturniidae moths that are in decline in
the Northeast, attributable largely as a result of non-target affects of parasitoids released to control
Gypsy Moth populations over the last century. This subspecies’ range is limited to the Northeast and is
considered rare over much of its range. Overall, there was a surprisingly large number of species caught
in one evening, many of which were larger species, e.g., a lot of Sphinx moths, some Saturniids and
larger species from the other taxa.
