1.4 and 1.5- Angle
Measure and
Relationships
Notes

An Angle is a measure formed by two rays or
lines at the point they intersect

The rays are the sides of the angle, and the
intersection is the vertex of the angle.

The Interior of the angle is the region containing
all points inside the rays

The exterior of the angle is the region containing
all points outside of the angle
Notes(cont.)

Angles are generally measured in degrees

To indicate the measure of an angle, write a
lowercase m in front of the angle name

Postulate 1-7: Consider a ray AB with a point C
on one side of AB. Every ray of the form AC can
be paired one to one with a real number
between 0 and 180
Angle Types
 What
are congruent angles?

Postulate 1-8 If point B is in the interior of angle
AOC then the measure of angle AOB + the
measure of angle BOC is equal to the measure
of angle AOC
Notes

Adjacent Angles are Two coplanar angles with a common
…
side, common vertex, and no common
interior points

Vertical Angles are… Two angles whose sides are opposite rays

Complementary
Angles are…

Supplementary Angles
are…
Two angles whose measures sum to 90°
Two angles whose measures sum to 180 °

A Linear Pair is a pair of adjacent angles whose
noncommon sides are opposite rays.

Postulate 1-9 – If two angles form a linear pair,
they are supplementary

An Angle Bisector is a ray that divides an angle
into two congruent angles
