Over 1,000,000 children are reported missing in the United States each year. While
most are found, others are not as fortunate. Also, the abduction of children is underreported and rapidly increasing in our society. This problem can no longer be ignored.
The Illinois Child Identification Program, IL CHIP, is designed to give families a measure
of protection against this ever increasing problem of child abduction.
IL CHIP is one of the most comprehensive child identification programs currently
available to our communities. Working together, Illinois Freemasons, Eastern Stars,
the Illinois State Police Amber Alert System and local authorities are attempting to
make this program available to every Illinois family that wishes to participate.
Through the Illinois Freemasons (Lone Star Lodge #18, Champaign, IL) this service is
“FREE" of charge to all participants in Champaign/
Urbana.

become lost. Others victims of abduction.
Here’s How IL CHIP works …
The Masons of Illinois hold and fund the entire cost of identification workshops for all
families all around the state of Illinois. They are called IL CHIP Events. They’re
sponsored by local Masonic Lodges and are held at schools and neighborhood
locations. Everything is put together and given to the parents to help authorities find
their missing child. It’s the most comprehensive program of its kind ... and it’s
FREE OF CHARGE!!!
Here is what you get at an IL CHIP Event:
COLOR PHOTO that records image and height and is digitized on a CD. This CD can be easily circulated by
police to the media and distributed across the state within an hour via Illinois’ Amber Alert Program.
RECORDED INTERVIEW captures, on the same CD as the picture, the appearance, speech patterns, personal
characteristics and mannerisms for easy media distribution.
DNA SAMPLE taken through a saliva cheek swab is the latest tool in the scientific arsenal to make positive ID’s
of lost children.
DIGITAL FINGERPRINTS are the oldest but now updated form of positive identification since they are unique
to every person.

All above items will be sealed/ signed for and given to parent or guardian.
