Historical Thinking Skills Unit Template Unit: ` World History Assessment Date: Instructions: As we move through our unit, it is important for to remember that we are working towards our summative assessment where we will demonstrate our mastery of our historical thinking skills. In each unit of World History, we will be evaluated on: HT1: Significance (Identifications): I can define key terms and explain how they are important to the understanding of the historical topic. HT 2: Cause and Effect: I can explain the causes and effects of complex historical events. HT 3: Perspectives (OPVL Source Analysis): I can analyze the value and limitations of a variety of types of sources in regards to studying history. HT 4: Change & Continuity: I can explain how themes in history have remained the same and how they have changed. To help us all become proficient in these skills, we will use this template to record, practice and revise the specific content we are going to apply. Ideally by the end of our Assessment Review day, you should have a “one stop shop” for all you need to be successful on the assessment the next class. Throughout each unit we are going to focus of one type of source and evaluate what this kind of source can tell us about our focus nation’s history.
