Lovett Wellness Warriors Welcome to the Wellness World! Eating right: The POWERFUL PLATE An apple a day has always been good advice; adding at least five to ten servings of fruits and vegetables every day is an even better idea not just for adults, but for the little ones too. Here’s how to create a more powerful plate for the whole family by placing the emphasis on colorful plant-based foods. LOVETT WELLNESS WARRIORS Vegetables Half of the plate should be for vegetables. A big variety of color will help you to have a good intake of nutrients and vitamins that are essential to the body. CLEAR WATER Lean Protein Helps to build and maintain healthy muscles. Also a healthy breakfast that includes protein has been shown to improve concentration and learning during the day. - Whole Grains Consuming whole grains as part of a healthy diet may reduce the risk of heart disease and constipation. Dairy Dairy foods supply three of the five "nutrients of concern" for which children have low intakes: calcium, potassium and magnesium (the other two are vitamin E and fiber). Most school age children should consume about 3 cups of milk or equivalent dairy products each day. MARK YOUR CALENDAR • September 18th – First “Teachers in Action” Exercise class.
