WIRELESS GAGING
Transmitters
Why Wireless Gaging?
Cables slow the speed and efficiency of
data acquisition. Cables also limit the
user, clutter work areas and create
hazards. In addition, cables can be
damaged when pulled, dragged or
crushed, which can result in errors even
though the cable appears to be
functioning properly.
To eliminate these challenges, ASI
DATAMYTE partners with MicroRidge
Systems, Inc. to bring you an advanced
Wireless Gaging Solution that is more
reliable and more cost effective than
direct hard wiring.
A basic wireless data collections system
can be configured as simply as a Base
(receiver) connected to a PC receiving
wireless data from a Mobile Module
(transmitter), or it can be as complex as
multiple base units receiving data from
hundreds of Mobile Modules.
The MobileCollect Wireless System
offers five transmitter models for
mobile and stationary gaging devices,
all with a 133 ft. range. Mobile
Modules are battery-powered and
attach to mobile gages (calipers,
micrometers, indicators) from a variety
of manufacturers including: Brown &
Sharpe, CDI, Dillon, Flexbar, Fowler,
LMI, Mahr Federal, Mitutoyo, Ono
Sokki, Starrett, Sylvac, and all devices
with RS‐232 output.
MobileConnect Mobile Module
The MobileCollect RS-232 Remote
connects to non-mobile RS‐232
devices (such as an RS232 scale or
height gage) and includes a 2.5mm
jack for an external foot or hand
switch. The RS-232 Remote includes a
setup program on a CD, DB9 serial
cable for connecting to a standard 9‐
pin serial port on a PC, and 110 volt
AC adapter.

Receivers
The MobileCollect Wireless system
offers three Base receivers to address
any PC workstation situation. Base
receivers have a range of 133 feet
and will accept data from multiple
Mobile Modules and Remotes. All Base
receivers come with Setup and
keyboard wedge programs on CDROM.
The USB Base is the most popular Base
for wireless applications. It is powered
by and communicates through the
USB port on a PC or laptop.
The RS-232 Base connects to a PC
serial port and comes with a 6 foot
Serial cable and 110 volt AC adapter.
The USB MicroBase is designed for use
with a laptop or Windows tablet for
“mobile” measurement collection.

MicroRidge Interfaces
Single Gage Interfaces
The GageWay SM for USB interface
connects a single Mitutoyo gage to a
USB port and is powered by the USB
port with a built-in USB cable.
Gageway SM with USB Output
Multi-Gage Interfaces
All GageWay Interfaces allow the user
to connect multiple gages into a
single PC port. Each comes with serial
output, 6ft serial cable, and a user
friendly but highly configurable
Windows based setup program.
GageWay Interfaces can connect to
a USB port with the addition of a “serial
to USB adapter cable” or to a network
using the “Network” version (not
available on Mx4 and Mx8).
GageWay Mx Series
The GageWay Mx4 interface connects
up to 4 Mitutoyo gages to an RS-232
serial port or (optional) USB
connection.
USB MicroBase
The GageWay Mx8 interface connects
up to 8 Mitutoyo gages to an RS-232
port or (optional) USB connection.

Digital Gage Interfaces
GageWay 3 Plus
The GageWay3 Plus connects 2
digital/RS-232 inputs to RS-232 serial
port or (optional) USB port.
GageWay 3 Network
The GageWay3 Network connects 2
digital/RS-232 inputs to RS-232 serial
port or TC/IP network or (optional) USB
port.
GageWay 5 Plus
The GageWay5 Plus connects 4
digital/RS-232 inputs to RS-232 serial
port or (optional) USB port. Contains
RS-232 expansion port for 5th RS-232
input or for chaining interfaces.
GageWay 5 Network
The GageWay5 Network connects 4
digital/RS-232 inputs to RS-232 serial
port or (optional) USB port. Contains
RS-232 expansion port for 5th RS-232
input or for chaining interfaces.
GageWay 6 Plus
The GageWay6 Plus connects 4 RS-232
inputs to RS-232 serial port or (optional)
USB port. Contains RS-232 expansion
port for 5th RS-232 input or for chaining
interfaces.
GageWay 6 Network
The GageWay6 Network connects 4
RS-232 inputs to RS-232 serial port or
(optional) USB port. Contains RS-232
expansion port for 5th RS-232 input or
for chaining interfaces.
RS-232 Adapters
The ProCable
The ProCable converts RS-232 gage
data into the digital Mitutoyo gage
data format; it allows users to connect
serial devices into the Mx4, Mx8,
GageWay 3 Plus, and GageWay 5 Plus
interfaces.
Serial Gage Interfaces
GageWay 4 Plus
The GageWay4 Plus connect 2 RS-232
inputs to RS-232 serial port or (optional)
USB port.
GageWay 4 Network
The Gageway4 Network connects 2
RS-232 inputs to RS-232 serial port or
TC/IP network or (optional) USB port.

ProCable

Features include:




LC Cable:
Automatic detection of baud rate
and communication parameters
when data is received from your
serial device, and storage baud
and communication parameters in
the ProCable’s non-volatile storage
(EEPROM).
Restores the serial and
configuration parameters when the
ProCable is plugged into your gage
interface.
One model of the ProCable will
work with any serial device. You do
not need different ProCable
models for different serial devices.
Simple to use. Windows Setup
Program can be used for custom
setup options. For example, the
Setup Program would be used if
you had to define a command to
be sent to your serial device.
Choose the ProCable when:



The LC Cable is a 24” level converter
cable for connecting RS-232 devices
to the GageWay3, GageWay5, and
Mx8 interfaces only (it will not work with
other interfaces).
LC Cable
ProAdapter
The ProAdapter allows you to
customize the pinouts so that you can
connect your serial device to a
standard PC serial port. It does not
require you to solder and unsolder
wires to customize the connections.
ProAdapter includes is ComTestSerial,
a serial communications test program
that allows you to test the
communications with your serial
device.
You do not know what the baud
rate and communication
parameters are and you want the
ProCable to determine them for
you.
You know what the baud rate and
communication parameters are
but you want the ProCable to set
them for you.
If you do not want to retrain your
RS-232 to Mitutoyo converter every
time you plug it into an interface.
