LSP Optimization
• Over time, network topologies can change.
• IGP cost changes, new links, failed links, etc.
• The optimization process will re-compute the LSP paths.
• Normally reoptimization is a periodic process that operates in the
background, looking for a better path for one or all LSPs.
• It can also be triggered manually if necessary.
• If a better path is found, the router will attempt to rebuild the LSP on
the new path.
• Many routers can do “smart” optimization.
• For example, a link coming back up can trigger an optimization event
before the normal timer.
• But only once, to prevent a flapping link from going nuts.
