Therapeutic Garden
The road to recovery can be full of obstacles.
Life-changing illnesses or accidents—such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, and
degenerative diseases—profoundly affect daily life.
At the Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center, we are dedicated to help our
patients rebuild their lives during their journey on the pathway to independence.
Who we are
The Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation
Center, located beside Nash General
Hospital, provides acute inpatient
rehabilitation care to adult patients from
age 18 onward. Our 23-bed facility is
designed to provide superior quality care,
and features:
• All-private rooms
• A therapeutic garden
• Large, private bathrooms in every room
• A one-floor facility—there is no need for
an elevator or steps
• A therapy pool
• A spacious dining hall and patio
• Convenient parking for visitors
• Easy access from Interstate 95 and
Highway 64.
Our rehabilitation specialists bring their
experience and unique talents to different
facets of rehabilitative care. We provide
high-quality therapy, patient and family
education, and important information about
community resources that are available.
Services we offer
Each treatment plan we create is tailored
to meet the individual needs of each patient.
We offer an extensive variety of
interdisciplinary services as well as referrals.
These services include:
• 24/7 rehabilitation nursing staff
• Physical therapy
• Occupational therapy
• Case management
• Expertise from a physiatrist, a physician
specializing in rehabilitation medicine
• Services of a licensed clinical social worker
• Access to clinical pharmacists
• Speech language pathology
• Recreational therapy
• Respiratory therapy
• Laboratory Services
• Radiology Services
• Services from a registered dietician
• Dialysis
• Spiritual support through our chaplains
• Pet therapy
• Wound care
• Language interpretation services
• Contracted access for orthotics/
prosthetics, durable medical equipment

Admission
Information
Referrals to the Bryant T.
Aldridge Rehabilitation Center
may be made by physicians and
other health care professionals,
hospitals, insurance companies,
home health agencies, patients
or their families. Patients
coming from other facilities
generally come from acute care
hospitals.
To be eligible to enter our
facility, patients must:
• Be medically appropriate
• Have functional limitations
requiring an interdisciplinary
rehabilitation program
• Have the ability to learn and
have a support system
• Be able to tolerate an
intensive rehabilitation
program.
Referrals
The Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center
serves 18 counties. This includes the North
Carolina counties of: Nash, Edgecombe,
Halifax, Northampton, Wilson, Johnston,
Wayne, Wake, Durham, Orange, Pitt, Franklin,
Bertie, Hertford, and Martin, as well as the
Virginia counties of Southampton, Greensville,
and Brunswick.
Patients generally come from acute care
hospitals from one of these 18 counties in our
service area. If you are seeking services and
reside outside of NC or Virginia, we will be
happy to discuss our program with you.
When a patient is referred to our inpatient
program, a liaison from our facility:
• Visits or calls to assess the patient’s condition
• Identifies the patient’s needs and to evaluate
the patient’s eligibility for the program
• Consults with the patient and the family, the
physicians, and other rehabilitation team
members to determine whether our inpatient
facility is the right one for the patient.
Once the patient is admitted to the Bryant T.
Aldridge Rehabilitation Center, case managers:
• Assess, implement, coordinate and evaluate
the patient’s plan of care
• Are responsible for patient/family discharge
plan
• Are team leaders for patient/family
conferences and weekly rehab team
meetings
• Work closely with medical doctors, rehab
teams and the patient for optimal care
• Maintain relationships with the external case
managers and provide information to them
on a weekly basis

Liaison With Insurance Providers
When the patient’s therapy is covered by insurance, our staff:
• Maintains communication with the insurance company
• Gathers and transmits information to support the utilization review
process
• Obtains authorization for the patient’s admission directly from the
insurance company.
We involve insurance company representatives in all team and
family meetings when involvement is indicated or requested.
Some of our payer sources include:
• Medicare
• Medicare and supplemental insurance
• Medicaid
• HMOs
• Private insurance
• Workers’ Compensation
• Self-pay on a case-by-case
basis.
Fees
The Bryant T. Aldridge
Rehabilitation Center has an
established fee schedule. If
you have any questions, we
would be happy to provide
you with a list or you can call
1-877-8GO- BTAR
(1-877-846-2827) and ask for
the referral department.
Hours of Operation and Frequency of Services
• The center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Rehabilitation nurses are on staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Case management and Licensed Clinical Social Worker coverage is available Monday
through Friday and as needed during the weekend.
• Patients should be able to tolerate a minimum of 3 hours of therapy per day, for at least
5 days per week. Therapy includes physical therapy, occupational therapy and, if
needed, speech therapy and recreational therapy. This may also include other therapies
as ordered by the physician.
Accreditation
The Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center is accredited by CARF and the Joint
Commission. This means that our facility has met the highest standards. CARF is the
leading national accreditation agency for rehabilitation centers. The Joint Commission is
an accreditation organization that sets national standards by which health care facilities
are graded.
About Nash Health Care
Nash Health Care is a non-profit hospital authority affiliated with UNC Health Care.
Nash Health Care is comprised of five licensed hospitals totaling 403 beds: Nash General
Hospital, Nash Day Hospital, the Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center, Community
Hospital and Coastal Plain Hospital.
