RPN – Registered Practical Nurse at TCART
TCART Fertility Partners is dedicated to providing the highest level of service and quality clinical
care for our clients. TCART offers a range of treatment programs that are enhanced by the
integration of research and current world standards of assisted reproduction practice. TCART
Fertility Partners under the direction of Dr. Robert F. Casper, was founded in 1993 to assist
infertile couples who have been unable to conceive through standard infertility techniques
previously available in Canada.
The staff at TCART regards quality patient care as their foremost directive in addressing
patient’s needs. At present, TCART is currently recruiting a part-time Registered Practical
Nurse (RPN) to join our multi-disciplinary team.
Job Overview:
The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) works independently and with a team of nurses,
physicians, laboratory and administrative staff to assess and coordinate patient care. The RPN
is expected to open patient charts, create stimulation records, and ensure that all
documentation including current screenings, blood work, consent forms, and a record of all
telephone conversations are present in patient charts.
The RPN rotates through all aspects of the nursing responsibilities at TCART including working
knowledge of oocyte retrieval and embryo transfer in the operating room. The RPN must be
efficient in cleaning and sterilization of process in the operating room. The RPN is involved in
recovery room duties starting of intravenous lines; preparing and administering intravenous
medication and clinical assessment of patient status follow recovery room policy. The RPN also
assists the physician when required but not limited to, IUIs, sono hysterogram, PAP smear,
endometrial biopsy and general physical examination.

Bases practice on basic nursing science and basic content relevant to nursing from the
sciences and humanities
Delivers care based on established policies and procedures
Provides nursing care that promotes and supports the physical, psychosocial, and
spiritual well being of clients
Administration of medications and nursing care where appropriate
Provides care in collaboration with the client and communicates with members of the
interdisciplinary care team and community providers as appropriate
Compiles medical information from referring sources on clients referred to program
Other duties as assigned to support the multi-disciplinary team
Must be able to work weekend schedule on rotation with other members of the nursing
team
Qualifications:

Minimum two years experiences as a Registered Practical Nurse
Minimum Registered Practical Nurse Diploma with proof of annual registration with the
College of Nurses of Ontario / Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario.
Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
WHIMIS Certification.
Knowledge and Skills Required:

Previous job-related experience, preferably in obstetric and gynecology setting
Experience in assisted reproduction considered an asset
Physical demands include standing for extended periods of time in the operating and
recovery room and to assist (standing) during ultrasound assessment of patients
Ability to assist sedated patients on and off stretchers as required
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively a team environment
Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse workload while setting priorities and meeting
deadlines
Knowledge of and skills working with fertility patients considered an asset
Demonstrated computer skills
Work schedule is a 2 – 3 weekday shift on a flexible rotation as needed. In addition, the
individual would be on call every other weekend & statutory holidays.
