Jarvis SUMMARY Academic research scientist with extensive scientific experience and skilled in 3D spheroid cell culture, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, Elisa, and Western blotting is seeking a research position. OBJECTIVE Highly organized, detail oriented, and broadly trained scientist with as well as a hands-on get-it-done attitude seeking an opportunity for assay and product development and scientific achievement. Organized lab materials, including tissue sample storage and computer files. Ordered supplies and monitored lab expenses Set up and maintained a computer imaging and densitometry station for gel analysis and cell culture documentation. Supervised projects of summer program students, medical students, and graduate students. Effective at trouble shooting experiments and identifying solutions in an academic research lab Drug Studies Dose Response Analysis using Incucyte for data acquisition PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE VANDERBILT, Nashville, TN Research Assistant II (position eliminated, no grant funding) Managed lab supplies and ordering. Subcloning and DNA plasmid preparation Learned new technique with drug dose response analysis using Incucyte Imaging system. Helped to close out the lab. 2015-2016 Brenda Jarvis p2 VANDERBILT, Nashville, TN 2009-2015 Research Assistant II (position eliminated, no grant funding) Managed lab supplies, safety inspections, animal protocols. Learn new techniques including FACS, Confocal Microscopy and 3D cell culture • Worked out 3D gel cell culture and staining to get consistent 3D spheroid growth and staining for both Matrigel and collagen I 3D gels. • Created procedure for imaging and measuring blood vessels in dab stained slide. • Debugged an immunofluorescence western blot technique and showed how changing to the Odyssey system was not only more cost effective long term for the lab but also more environmentally friendly. • Analyzed a historical mouse colony statistics to show that alpha2 integrin beta3 integrin double knock out mice have a reduced litter size and frequency of litter. • Discovered an error in the genotyping procedure used in the lab which resulted in 1 out of 4 heterozygote mice being mistyped as knock out mice. Directed efforts to determine what inhibited the PCR reaction and what would allow a functional and accurate genotyping procedure for a particularly difficult PCR. • Determined that the lab inventory was out of date and reagents were lost or missing. Redesigned the old Microsoft Access database in the more lab friendly Microsoft Excel and verified the current reagent inventory. FREEMAN PHOTOGRAPHERS, Nashville, TN Data Manager Input data into client database; created reports; backed up data. • Developed and beta tested new Microsoft Access client database 2006-2009 MEHARRY MEDICAL COLLEGE, Nashville, TN 2005-2006 Research Assistant Professor Project title: Quantifying the Contribution of TNF-alpha to Tumor Trowth and Angiogenesis Using In Vitro and In Vivo Imaging Techniques • Developed user manuals for microscope stations. VANDERBILT, Nashville, TN 2002-2005 Postdoctoral Fellow, Cancer Imaging Project title: Characterization of Tumor angiogenesis with MRI, Ultrasound and Optical Techniques • Developed imaging technique for measuring tumor blood vascular volume • Developed software analysis process for ultrasound quantitation of ovarian tumor blood volume VANDERBILT, Nashville, TN 1999-2002 Postdoctoral Fellow Project title: Development and characterization of EGFR Kinase Mutants • Introduced new technique for making super competent cells producing rare 2KB DNA fragment bearing plasmid MEHARRY MEDICAL COLLEGE, Nashville, TN Graduate Student Project title: Interactions of Alpha-2HSGlycoprotein with Matrix Metalloproteinases • Invented new procedure for isolating Fetuin from cultured cells or blood • Creating Pictorial Equipment Manuals • Developed user manuals for imaging stations.
