: 04 86 97 72 04 - [email protected] Centre de Recherche en Cancérologie de Marseille Unité Mixte de Recherche Instituts thématiques Service communication - Institut Paoli-Calmettes 05/2015 Invitation : Pascale Zimmermann - Centre de Recherche en Cancérologie de Marseille Keynote seminar “Biologie & Clinique” Exploring the interface between immunology and metabolism Prof Francisco Sanchez-Madrid Professor of Immunology, Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain Prof Sanchez-Madrid is interested in the molecular basis of key communication processes involving immune cells, such as the formation of the immune synapse between antigen presenting cells (APC) and T cells, and the migration of leukocytes across the endothelium. His team is currently investigating the possibility that the immune synapse (IS), the contact site between the T cell and APC, allows the directional transfer of miRNA-loaded exosomes from T cell to APC, providing a specific means of cell-cell communication with important functional consequences for APC biology. They are also studying the supra-molecular organization of the receptors involved in leukocytes interaction with the vascular endothelium, which allows the selective recruitment of inflammatory leukocyte subsets to inflammatory foci, with the ultimate aim of identifying new molecular targets for therapy.
