MORE INFORMATION: ZOFO, the twice Grammy-nominated piano duo hailed as “...jaw-dropping awesome!” (San Francisco Examiner) and “…dazzling.” (LA Times) is coming to San Jose on Sunday, February 14, 2016. ZOFO, which is shorthand for 20-finger orchestra (ZO=20 and FO=finger orchestra), will perform a program including Gershwin, Bach, and a selection from the duo’s CD, “ZOFO plays Terry Riley.” That CD, highlighting work from the immensely popular American composer, was selected among 2015’s favorite classical albums by NPR and Gramophone Magazine. Two of the works being played, composed by Gabriela Frank and Christian Henking, were commissioned for ZOFO. This prize-winning Steinway Artist Ensemble is blazing a bold new path. Since joining forces in 2009, internationally acclaimed pianists Eva Maria Zimmermann and Keisuke Nakagoshi have electrified audiences from Carnegie Hall to Tokyo with dazzling artistry and outside the box thematic programming for piano-four-hands. He is Pianist-in-Residence at the San Francisco Conservatory. Winner of the prestigious Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship, Eva-Maria Zimmermann has appeared at international festivals and is a founding member of the award winning Swiss Charmillon Piano Quartet. She teaches in the music program at the Nueva School in Hillsborough, CA, founded by Sir Yehudi Menuhin.
