RB Morris:
RB Morris is a poet who writes emotionally intense songs. Morris has spent most of his life in Knoxville and in the mountains of East Tennessee. He grew up on oldtime music rock and roll and played his way through the clubs and honky tonks of the mountains, first with bands with old time fiddlers and then later with groups that rocked. He traveled the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe, then back up into the Appalachians, where he lived for a year in near seclusion in a primitive cabin. Back in Knoxville, Morris focuses on writing and performing his poetry. He edited a literary magazine, Hard Knoxville Review. He has also written a oneman play, "The Man Who Lives Here Is Loony", about the turbulent life of writer James Agee, who grew up in Knoxville. Later, Morris played Agee in a video version of the play. For the last two years, he has been playing his music in Nashville. Morris' songs reflect a range of musical styles: pop, blues, country, gospel and improvisation with spoken word. Rosemary:
Rosemary has been playing music since age 13. Having grown up in Nashville, TN, she has played out of clubs and venues for years. She has been involved with numerous musical projects such as: (Andy Bodean and the Bottom Boys, Communist, Tim Chad and Sherry, Ultra Vulgar, Flyaway Minion, and Ebanditos, to name a few). In 2003, Rosemary partnered up with master engineer Patrick Himes (who has numerous credits and accolades to his name, including asst. engineer of Ryan Adam's "Heartbreaker"). For the most part, all parts are played by both she and Patrick, with the occasional guest appearance. Rosemary is a graduate from the internationally known SAE Institute, formerly known as School of Audio Engineering. Most recently, Rosemary and Patrick launched their own entertainment company, WaterWorks Entertainment. WWE is both a recording studio and a publishing company.
Classically trained bassVocalist, Jonathan Ashley Blanchard was born in Memphis November of 1976. He delivers performances that are spiritually enveloped in the traditions of ancient Africans and early AfricanAmericans. His singing "skillfully guides audiences through Sacred, Gospel, Jazz, R&B, and Blues stylizations of the Negro Spiritual". His operatic credits include affiliations with Capital City Opera; Atlanta Opera; The Walker Academy of Instrumental & Vocal Excellence; and The Atlanta Lyric Opera. In the fall of 2007 the AmeriColor Opera Alliance Guild will present him in the title role of “Solomon”; a work written especially for him by critically acclaimed composer Sharon Willis. http://jonathanblanchard.com Mark Boling: jazz guitarist, teacher, composer, author, collaborator with drummer Keith Brown and bassist Rusty Holloway in the Boling, Brown, & Holloway (BBH) trio. In addition to his two CDs, Tune Me and Evidence (MaBO Music), Boling is author of Creative Comping Concepts for Jazz Guitar (Mel Bay) and The Jazz Theory Workbook (Advance Music). He is an Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of the Jazz Program at the University of Tennessee School of Music. http://www.markboling.com Jeff Coffin has become a staple at the Knoxville Jazz for Justice concerts. He has performed in it every year since the creation of the event. He is a welltraveled saxophonist/composer, and twotime Grammy Award winning member of Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, rejects all labels and categories other than "music" and "musician."
Since 1997, Coffin has traveled the world with the Flecktones, performing with musicians of all walks. Some of those he has shared the stage and the recording studio include such diverse artists as The Dave Matthews Band, Branford Marsalis, DJ Logic, New Orleans Social Club, McCoy Tyner, Baaba Maal, Mike Clark's Prescription Trio, Chris Thile, Garth Brooks, Phish, Van Morrison, J.D. Souther, Vinnie Colaiuta, The Dixie Chicks, Bob Moses, Konger Ol Ondar, Stanton Moore, Brooks and Dunn, George Porter Jr., Umphrey's McGee, Del McCoury, John Scofield, Yonder Mountain String Band, Marc Broussard, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Wailers and many, many others. Along the way, Coffin has absorbed an astounding range of influences. "Whether it be New Orleans Second Line, African music, Indian Ragas, folk songs, Alan Lomax field recordings, jazz, or funk," he says, "the spirit and breath of the music is what I take away from listening and playing. It's what decides for me whether I like it or not." Known for sometimes playing alto and tenor sax simultaneously, with a nod to Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Coffin seeks out the extraordinary in his saxophone sound and in his technique of improvisation. Reaching for the unique is something Jeff makes an integral part of both his playing and teaching. In addition to the Flecktones, Jeff also leads his own group, The Mu'tet which takes it's name for the word mutation, giving way to Jeff's belief that music is constantly changing and mutating. Jeff Coffin has played on hundreds of recordings, and has performed around the world including a 2007 performance at the esteemed Carnegie Hall. As a highly in demand clinician, Jeff has presented clinics from Farmington, Maine to Perth, Australia and is also an internationally acclaimed Yamaha and Vandoren Performing Artist since 2000. Jeff Coffin and his band, The Mu'tet have recently released a new album, Mutopia, featuring renowned artists such as Kofi Burbridge, Felix Pastorious and Futureman. Additionally, Jeff has been lending his talents to the Dave Matthews Band during their most recent tour. http://www.jeffcoffin.com/ The combination of Kelle Jolly & TheWill Boyd Project bridges the gap between jazz & blues of yesterday and today. These South Carolina natives honed their skills playing with musicians who believed in the blues. Will's soulful, saxophone serenades lead the way for Kelle to expose her 3octave voice through a labyrinth of melodies, that hypnotize any lover of the blues. These music ambassadors have performed for audiences from Knoxville, TN to Muroran, Japan. Get ready for a show packed full of soulful jazz and funky blues! Along with the band, this collection of musicmakers leaves audiences feeling good about the blues down in their souls. www.myspace.com/kellejolly www.myspace.com/willdboyd RoyEl Wilfred Wooten, better known by his stage name Future Man (also spelled as Futureman), is an inventor, musician and composer. He is known as Futch to his fans, and was born October 13, 1957 in Hampton, Virginia. He is a percussionist and member of the jazz quartet Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. Future Man he plays the Drumitar, a novel electronic instrument of his own invention. More recently, Wooten has developed a new electronic instrument called the RoyEl, which resembles a piano but plays notes not found in the traditional western music scales. His music employs the power and science of Mother Nature to attain the natural ratios of the Golden Means (Phi) and the keyboard is styled after the table of the periodic elements. It's no accident, he said, that the RoyEl resembles a keyboard since "More and more I see the piano like a drum set and the drum set like a piano."

I'm currently attending the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) where I am pursuing a Masters in Jazz Studies.
Natti Love Joys:
Based in the mountains of East Tennessee, the Natti Love Joys perform classic reggae as well as their own hybrid form of modern, eclectic Reggae. The band can deliver the great, crowdpleasing standards of the late 1960s and 1970s, the music of Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff. The Natti Love Joys also maintain a solid foundation in lovers rock and positive dancehall styles of reggae.
The Natti Love Joys are fronted by an electric husband and wife duo, Jati and Marla Allen. Vocalist and bassist, Jati, comes straight from Kingston Jamaica, where reggae music originated. Jati trained under the legendary Cedric Brooks during the golden age of reggae in the late 1960s. He also became a core member of such legendary acts as The Congos and led New York City’s hottest roots reggae act, Itopia.
Vocalist and keyboardist, Marla, came out of Brixton England where she was born to Jamaican parents. Marla's journey began in her early teens when she, Sonia Abel, formed the lovers rock group, the Love Joys. The Love Joys quickly became a hit sensation in Europe. At that time, Jati was playing at the legendary Wackies studio in the Bronx, where the Love Joys were recording. Marla and Jati met and decided to record an album together, Two Loves in my Life, but eventually the collaboration led to combining Marla's Love Joys and Jati's natti vibe, to form the Natti Love Joys.
Jeff Sipe:
The Apartment Q258 was born in Berlin, Germany by the name, Jeff Sipe in 1959. Jeff's family moved frequently in his youth while his father worked for the United States government. Jeff spent his early years in the ancient lands of Vietnam and Thailand. Some of his early memories of these eastern countries included watching geckos slither across his front lawn, climbing vast amounts of trees in Thailand as well as watching Buddist monks in their bright orange togas walk the streets with their bowls of rice in hand. Jeff once said that he would "often visit the temples just to hear the ringing of the bells".
After a short stint in the D.C. area, Jeff's family moved back to Germany. This is where Jeff learned to play drums while in junior high. Jeff remembers memicking an older student who he feels some gratitude for getting him involved with the drum kit. Jeff listened to an eclectic mix of music in Germany as well as a good fill of American music that was not hard to find in a foreign land. One of his earliest favorites was Emerson, Lake and Palmer (ELP). Jeff remembered the speed at which Carl Palmer played on his massive kit.
Over the past five years, Jeff has spent time on many projects. One of those was a vast touring period with the bluegrass super jam band Leftover Salmon. Jeff brought a world feel and professionalism that all the members could learn from. During this period he also had the opportunity to work with musicians like Bryon Lopes, Neil Fountain, Chief Jim Billy, Jonathan Townes and John Medeski. Jeff even took on his own creation known as the Zambiland Orchastra. This experimental big band featured members of Phish, Widespread Panic, Michael Ray and the Cosmic Crew, the Derek Trucks Band, the Fiji Mariners and many others.
Even more recently Jeff teamed up with long time friend and guitar maniac Jimmy Herring on a project known as Z, that’s Project Z to most. Together with fellow Atlantian producer/musician Ricky Keller and mega organ/keyboardist Oliver Wells, Project Z recorded a self titled debut album filled with juicy fusionisk tunes that gathered praise from all realms. This band formed out of Jeff's Atlanta based jam sessions known as the Apartment Projects. The results have created heartfelt, free formed music that Jeff and his fellow musicians can be proud of.
