Tim Slover
Author of The Christmas Chronicles and Narrator (Episodes 1 & 8)
Tim’s plays have been produced off-Broadway (Lamb’s Theatre) and in professional regional and
university theaters all over the United States and Canada. In 2008 and 2009, his plays Joyful Noise
and Virtue received staged readings at the Hampstead Theatre’s Michael Frayn Space and Arch
468 in London. He has developed a special relationship with the Fulton Theatre in Lancaster,
Pennslvania, where three of his plays have been produced, two of them commissions. He has been
writer-in-residence at nearby Franklin & Marshall College and Penn State University. A curious and
life-altering incident inspired Tim to begin telling his two sons the accounts of what is now the
radio drama The Christmas Chronicles.
Tim’s produced screenplays include A More Perfect Union and Minerva Teichert: A Mission in Paint.
KBYU-FM produced his A C.S. Lewis Valentine in 2002. Writing awards include the Grand Prize
from the 65th Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition; the Christopher Brian Wolk Award
for playwriting excellence from the Abingdon Theatre Company; the Freedoms Foundation George
Washington Honor Medal; a Hopwood Award; and three drama awards from the Association for
Mormon Letters. He was also a nominee for a Public and Community Service Emmy from the
National Television Academy.
His plays are published by Samuel French and Encore Performance Publishing. Others of his
writings have appeared in National Biography of American Theatre and Sunstone magazine and
have been published by Signature Books and Silverleaf Press. With a doctorate from the University
of Michigan, Tim directs the playwriting program and teaches dramatic literature at the University
of Utah.
Richard Johnstone
Narrator (Episodes 2-8) of The Christmas Chronicles
Richard was an attorney in the United Kingdom from 1969 to 1980, when he decided to leave the
profession and take up writing and teaching. He has specialized mostly in children’s and young adult
books, writing under the name of Richard Severy. Some of his publications include Mystery Pig,
Unicorn Trap, Angel (adapted for stage), Battlefields, and Sea Change.
He won third place in the FilmMakers International Screenwriting Contest (2004) with a comedy
about a garage run by female mechanics, and the following year was awarded second place for his
screenplay Journey to Avalon. In 1997, after moving from England, he began teaching at Utah
Valley University and later was adjunct faculty. Richard Johnstone passed away in September of
2010. He lived in Sundance, Utah with his wife, American pop artist Jann Haworth.

Robert Rowberry
Composer for The Christmas Chronicles
Born in Pasadena, California, Rob grew up in West Vancouver, British Columbia. He attended
Brigham Young University, studying music composition and electronic music. His musical
experiences range from rock band tours to multimedia shows and piano recitals to musicals and
choral work. He has a Masters Degree in Music Composition from BYU plus doctoral studies
at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Since 1990 he has been recognized as a
composer, multimedia developer, and sound designer for numerous major corporations, including
MIDI composer for Yamaha Corporation’s main office in Japan. Rob has composed hundreds of
music compositions, including over 35 themes and motives for The Christmas Chronicles. He
and his wife, Joyce are members of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
