Daniel Volovets Classical, Flamenco, Brazilian, and Jazz Guitarist Short Biography Daniel Volovets is a guitarist, composer, and arranger with over 15 years of professional experience. He performs regularly throughout the Twin Cities at a variety of venues, including events organized by the Minnesota Guitar Society, Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre, 3M, The Cedar Cultural Center, the Dakota Jazz Club, The Museum of Russian Art, Casa de España, Cargill Inc., the Landmark Center, and the Saint Paul Public Library, among others. Daniel is majoring in neuroscience at the University of St. Thomas and aspires to balance careers in medicine and music. He has recorded five albums: Watercolors of the World (2008), Silhouette (2009), Rite of Passage (2011), Rainy Highway (2014), and Wistful Tendrils (2015). Daniel plays a custom-made Stephen Kakos 2011 flamenco guitar. Performance/Repertoire Daniel specializes in classical, flamenco, Latin American, jazz, and Russian music, as well as original compositions. When performing solo, Daniel strives to deliver the most technicallypolished and expressive playing, adjusting his choice of repertoire to cater to the audience or to create a particular atmosphere. When performing with his multi-instrumentalist brother, Adrian Volovets (flute, violin, tenor/soprano saxophones, piano, pipe organ, melodica), their duet demonstrates the unique interplay that is possible between these instruments and the guitar. Daniel and Adrian’s collective repertoire exceeds 10 hours of music. Daniel is available to perform either as a soloist or as a duet with Adrian. Engagements include but are not limited to public concerts, corporate events, restaurant performances, weddings, theater productions, private parties, compositional commissions, workshops, and studio sessions. Daniel also takes requests and can learn specific repertoire (with sufficient notice), such as music for a wedding or a specially-requested concert program. Please contact Daniel for booking information and a complete repertoire list. Teaching Daniel teaches students of all ages and skill levels, having worked with children and adults alike. Lessons are typically one hour in length and are tailored to the student’s skill level and particular musical interests, which can range from learning a specific technique or composition to multi-year, all-around musical and artistic development. Typically, the first lesson begins with an assessment of the student’s existing technique and musical knowledge (if any), as well as the establishment of concrete goals so that the student always has something to work toward. Daniel has had the privilege of studying with several outstanding guitarists – notably, Anatoly Shapiro (classical guitar), Tony Hauser (classical, flamenco, Brazilian, and jazz guitar), and “El Payo” Humberto Wilkes (traditional flamenco guitar) – and relishes the opportunity to pass on what he has learned from these masters. Please contact Daniel for lesson rates and availability. 952952-212212-6573 [email protected] www.danielvolovets.com
