Over the last few weeks your daughter has been involved with a series of visiting workshops
from Birmingham Conservatoire. ‘Progressions’ is a scheme ran by the Frontiers Festival at
Birmingham Conservatoire to explore music from the past, present and future. Lead by
composer and music educationalist Kirsty Devaney, the workshops have focused on using
music from the past as inspiration for creating new music.
Our students have been specially selected, alongside two other schools, to work alongside
Kirsty Devaney and musicians from Birmingham Conservatoire to create new pieces of
music. We have been invited to perform these new pieces at the ‘Young Composers
Concert’ in Birmingham Conservatoire’s annual music festival ‘Frontiers’.
Concert Info Date: 13th March
Venue: Birmingham Conservatoire, Recital Hall, B3 3HG
Rehearsal Time: Arrive at 4.00pm (Recital Hall)
Concert Time: 5.30pm – 6pm.
Price: Free (donations welcome)
We are organising to take the students to the Conservatoire by mini bus. Should you wish to
attend the concert and make your own travel arrangements then please inform us on the slip
attached.
