BIO
MichaelJosephHarris
has been playing and performing guitar since the age
of 12. He first won recognition in Chantilly High School, winning awards as guitarist for Downbeat
Magazine’s #1 Big Band. He studied Jazz guitar with Rick Whitehead of the Airmen of Note, then
later at North Texas State University under the great Jack Petersen. Harris subsequently began
performing non-stop as the leader of his own group Bossalingo and as a free lance guitarist in the
DC club scene. He has also performed in theater productions such as Slam! and Next To Normal,
and with Taylor McFerrin as bassist for the Immaculate Contraption European tour. On his latest
release Steps Beyond, Harris turns his attention to his first love, performing original music.
Bossalingo
The Bossalingo sound has been influenced by an extended family of musicians from Brazil, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Africa,
Washington D.C., and New York City. All share a common love for Jazz and American roots music. The group features
a combination of the following players: Alejandro Lucini, Leonardo Lucini, Bruno Lucini, Tom Barrick, Eric Leifert, Alfredo
Mojica, Jose Lopez, Rene Ibanez, Ivan Navas, Sam Prather (piano), and most recently Mike Kuhl and Jake Leckie.
Bossalingo can also feature special guest artist, grammy award-winning pianist Arturo O’Farrill.
Leonardo Lucini is an electric and double bassist,
teacher, composer and arranger in the Washington DC
area, born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Alfredo Mojica
an experienced percussionist,
was born in Central America performing at a young age
with musicians such as Dizzy gillispie, Buddy Rich, Celia
Cruz, Eddie Palmieri, Willie Colon, El gran Combo, and Ray
Barretto.

Alejandro Lucini
was born in Rio de Janeiro and
studied percussion at the Escola de Musica de Brasilia.
Tom Barrick ,
born in Ohio, has studied and
performed Jazz for many years in the DC area. He has
played at NYC’s Iridium, Knitting Factory, Arlene’s grocery,
The Rainbow Room, The Copacabana, CBGB’s, as well as
toured Europe and the States.
